Weekend - Install #4

- NBTC All-Star Tryouts -
2016
Future Stars

Over the past weekend [ Sat and Sun morning only] I officially covered the NBTC All-Star Tryouts, at San Beda Mendiola.  This event saw 54 or so aspiring high school hoopsters [some of which are entering college next SY] compete for 25 or so spots to be part of an All-Star Roster that will showcase their skills come March 13.

This program has been running for several years now. The NBTC [National Basketball Training Center] is being run by "Coach E", Eric Altamirano [a former UP Fighting Maroon].

Coach E also has been running the MMBL for several years too - and I have been quite fortunate that since early 2013, Coach E has been hiring me to cover the Metro Manila Basketball League.
[And this year is the first time I'm covering the NBTC All-Star events]

Coach Alex Compton, several prominent coaches, several current PBA hoopsters, former UAAP athletes, Marissa Altamirano {Coach E's wifey}, Anton {Coach E's son}, right-hand woman Michelle Beltran and host of other Team Players do get the job done - year-in, year-out   .... cool ! Sa akin lang naman, bottom line - Sim-ple man - Trabaho lang.  I do my best to get my coverage done well.

FYI - Mr. Rick Olivares [left, in photo below], a good friend of mine, has been fulfilling his role, as Media Officer for Coach E's Various Tournaments/Training Programs and all - for the past nine years or so.

 A Parting Shot

On Day #2 [last day] of the NBTC All-Star Tryouts, I was able to lighten up (and illicit a giggle or two} from {L-R}  LA , Frank, Coach Ato, Coach Alex and Anton  {the other coaches and former college standouts had left by then} - Coach E was in Cebu by then, {Sunday morning}
- probably attending to some basketball-related projects !

Good Luck Guys !
See you at the All-Stars

A future UAAP MVP, NCAA MVP, or PBA MVP
might just be here, in this group shot
Take your Pick ...
Your guess is as good as mine.

The Poetry of
Light and Shadow ...
... its playful nuances and caress

 Highlights, Textures (and Feels) !
are
The New Black !
 ha ha ha

Seriously, tho  - another unplanned, unsolicited, unexpected photo opp came by (last Saturday), and I quickly thought on my feet, asked politely and promptly - was given a few fleeting seconds - Glanced at the lighting, Angled, Composed, Directed - and whizzed 4-7 shots in about 5-8 seconds flat.

This time around - I was pleasantly surprised at the results - Simply Irresistibly, and so, so Adorably - SOULful ! - What can i say ?

Fact is, Such ad-hoc, fleeting scenarios have given me ome of my Best and most Evocative Portraits in the past four years - Ever ! Mind You !

-----

Charm / "It" / Appeal - call it what you like -  IS truly Effortless - It's either ya have it or ya don't (Can Never Fake it guys) !! - So, have I noticed, constantly "weaving" endless On-the-Spot Portraits [solo or group]  year-in, year-out  {whenever, wherever an opp presents itself}

One second, a girl is just another pretty face lingering nearby {stranger, acquiantance, or friend - don't really matter! } - and in the next few seconds (say, like, less than a minute or so) - She is "immortalized" in a SOULful series of portaits .....

IT Happens ...  and I Just Love the Rythm and Rhyme of Light and Shadow.
FEEL ko Talaga. That's Just me.

Weekend - Install #2

 last February 27

3 - in - 1
Saturday in a Nutshell

Hmmm,  Feb.27 was a decent working Saturday for me - one which allowed me to shoot the three most popular sports in the Metro - Basketball, Volleyball, and Football.

Not surprisingly, the day was punctuated with a few Minor and Major "glitches/concerns" for me.
The Minor One, was having to rush to from the UAAP Volleyball match, in Cubao, to the UAAP football match at BGC. The Major One, being, having to manage manual focus w/my 100-400 mm telephoto lens.

{ I made it to the football match, with barely a few minutes left remaining in the first half [oh, well] }  .....  anywyay - nutshells follow below:

8 am to 12 noon [San Beda, Mendiola]
Day #1 of the NBTC All-Star Tryouts

I'm Sure that among these 50 + plus hopefuls, most of which are graduating fr High School in the next month[s], are a few future UAAP/NCAA All-Stars and probably a few future PBA All-Stars too.
Agree ??

 4 pm -6 pm {SMART Araneta} - official schedule
The match was actually delayed by 45 minutes or so
DLSU Lady Spikers vs Ateneo Lady Eagles
Last match of Round 1 - UAAP Women's Volleyball

7 pm - 9 pm, McKinley Field, BGC
UP Lady Maroons  vs  Ateneo Lady Eagles
UAAP Women's Football

BTW - PS ...

The "other [equally] Major Concern" for me - But Of Course !,
was  .... Getting GOOD Behind-the-Scenes Imagery from the two UAAP matches.

Yes, I'll release a very, very few from the DLSU-ADMU match and a generous amount from the UP-ADMU football match.
Also, Congrats to DLSU and UP for executing well, and Winning !

Have yet to sift thoroughly through my Saturday [and Sunday] images to choose images best shared -
  in the next 48-72 hours.
STILL have catch up on my sleep - probably sleep the whole day, today, Monday.

DO Support my blogspot and flickr site guys - Thank You.
