To Do Unto Others
- What Others Did To You
Last Season 76, the NU Lady Bulldog Volleyball Team beat the Ateneo Lady Eagles twice in the Elim Round and come the Playoffs where poised to take the only remaining Finals Slot - {The 3--Time Defending Champion DLSU Lady Spikers having swept all their 24 matches in the Elims, were just waiting to find out who they might face in the Finals whilst having a huge
"Thrice-to-Beat-Advantage"}.
The Lady Eagles {who prevailed in their Do-or-Die / Win-or-Go-Home Playoff Match vs the Adamson Lady Falcons} eventually found themselves having to beat the Lady Bulldogs twice {obviously, the NU had the "Twice-to-Beat" Advantage over the Lady Eagles} if they ever hoped to get a crack the Finals, again.
The Lady Eagles had two consecutive opps - in Seasons 75 and 76 - to win UAAP Gold - but the "Invincible" Lady Spikers from Taft, convincingly swept those two Finals Series - to the heartache of thousands of Lady Eagle die-hards, AND the Fab Five of F. Cainglet, D. Gervacio, G. Ho, J. Ferrer, and A Nacachi {of course} who ended their last two [of five playing years] -with Silver.
Personally, {then} I expected the "Probable" --- {based on the Elim Round performances of both the Lady Eagles and Bulldogs} --- to transpire ->for the NU Lady Bulldogs to to wrap things up in one match and proceed to the UAAP Finals - What with the two tall Santiago sisters [achin' for UAAP Gold - 'twas Dindin's last playing year], and as mentioned - Ateneo's Fab Five being out of the picture ....
Looking back, as we all know too well - The Underdog Lady Eagles achieved the "Improbable" and beat the favored lady Bulldogs twice in a row - earned the right to beat the "Invincible" /"Thrice-to-Beat" Archers - and eventually achieved the [that time] ->"Highly Improbable" feat of beating the "Invincible" / "On a 33-Game Winning Streak"[thereabouts] Lady Spikers -
three times !!
Last March 4, Wednesday - NU swept DLSU in three sets - erased the Lady Archers' "Twice-to-Beat Advantage" - and set the stage for a Win-or-Go-Home / Knockout out match tomorrow [4pm at the at the Mall of Asia Arena] -
Who Wouldda Thought ?!?! {The winner of course will have to face the "Thrice-to-Beat Advantage" Lady Eagles to claim UAAP Gold}
When I seated myself during the Blue Eagles vs NU Bulldogs Mens' Volleyball Championship Match, I noticed some of the Lady Bulldogs behind me and took the opp to have some "sweet snaps", if I may call them that, of the volleybelles in Blue and Gold. {photo above and below}

Little did I know that about a few hours alter I'd be taking "Even Sweeter Snaps" of the Lady Bulldogs, this time, in their dugout - Super-Stoked from a 3-set {sweet} sweep of the formidable Lady Archers fom Taft.
Frontliner Aiko Urdas {photo below - left}, still recovering from her operation, probably had mixed emotions, being injured and all - I could only speculate the extent of her frustration of not being able to play and the "high" she must have been experiencing during those proud moments with the NU Lady Bulldogs !
Come Ta' Think of It
Coach Gorayeb just might finally -> "Do unto Coach de Jesus",
what he {Ramil} did to him {Roger}
After the NU sweep, I chided my acquaintances from the NU Community - NU Athletics Director Junel Baculi and UAAP Board Member Nilo Ocampo "What Ateneo did to you last year - You can do to La Salle !"
{Of course, NU still has to win tomorrow - to actually DO that}
