All That Mud For Nothing ??

Last December 16, Sunday, the Ateneo Lady Booters clashed with UST's Lady Tigers [The UAAP Defending Champs].  Early on, a persistent drizzle had turned  Ocampo Field into a hazardous, muddy mess of a field - affecting the physics, and dynamics of the match. The ball wouldn't bounce normally, the girls slipped, slided and skidded away the whole first half.  Ateneo was leading [2-1] coming into the 2nd Half and as the drizzle worsened, the game officials halted [after about 5-10 min] and eventually cancelled the match [actually invalidating it and rescheduling a rematch for 2013].

As of December 16 - Aina Martin, Cecille Dayrit, Ma-an Cadayona, and Camille Rodriguez have been responsible for the Lady Eagles total of 6 goals in their wins over UP / DLSU / UST match [eventually invalidated]

Martin - 3 goals

 Dayrit [Cecille] - 1 goal

Cadayona - 1 goal

Rodriguez - 1 goal

Unfortunately for Cadayona and Rodriguez, their 2 goals in the Dec.16 match have been disregarded, since that game was invalidated.

 Cristina de los Reyes [UP]
UAAP Season 74's Rookie of the Year

Last year, rookie Cristina de los Reyes [fr DLS Zobel] led the UP Lady Maroons to victory [vs the ADM Lady Eagles and vs the FEU Lady Tams] twice by scoring two goals on both won elimenation round games [Season 74].  As of late, Cristina also played a pivotal role in UP winning the Women's Football Gold at the recent UniGames in Bacolod, held last November.

Come the First Half of the Ateneo-UP Women's football Match [Dec.1, Season 75] I was hoping to see more of this promising lady athlete.  To my surprise she didn't play [The rookie of the year not being given minutes at all in a half ?? I speculated] at all.

So, during the break I proceeded to the UP dug out to look for her.  I got to actually converse with Cristina and found out, first hand, that she quit the UP Team [sometime after their UNI Games stint in Bacolod] in order to concentrate on her academics.  A Rookie of the Year recipient quitting on her sophomore year in order to give priority to her acads ! - That doesn't happen often.  

 She did eventually "disappoint" a lot of people [myself included] with her very personal decision to leave the team.  As far as goals/priorities are concerned - It only proves that this young girl IS consistently willing to make the necessary sacrifices to achieve them. 

Trivia - As a matter of fact, way back Feb 16 of 2009 - I actually witnessed AND captured in still images ->Cristina's TWO goals vs Guam [Phil-2  Guam-1] [friendly match]  - A Knack of scoring in pairs ??? You Tell me.

UAAP Season 75's Rookie of the Year ????

Rookie Aina Martin , on the other hand led the Lady Eagles to victory over the UP Lady Booters    {[2-0] during their Dec. 2 match.} by converting two goals in the last five minutes of the match. 

During the ADM-DLS match, Aina, [she led by example again] - scored in the First Half.  Junior Cecille Dayrit then  sealed the fate of DLSU by adding another goal in the 2nd half [Final  ADM-2   DLS-0]

So, after Ateneo's two wins and two draws [entering 2013], the young recruit from [Cebu?]  has already accumulated a total of 3 goals to her stat sheet.  Not bad for a rookie?   Right ??  Will there be another rookie in the Women's Division who might threaten Martin's chances of winning the RoY Award ??

Car Crash !!

I love working and PLAYING with moving lights.  When I was shot my recent pyro images [refer to my "Night Sky" post] I was actually toying with the idea of being a "professional fireworks/pyrotechnique photographer", in my mind, that is, IF there is such or would be such a profession.  I was mesmerized, as I kept on using different manual exposure combinations w my DSLR to interpret the pyro show above me.

Shaken but not Stirred

The exciting thing about shooting stills of pyros [Usually don't show it as they would normally appear] is that one never really knows how the final image will turn out to be until one views the LCD..  Love its subjectiveness and abstract quality - and of course, the playfulness of it all. I can use the images as "visual interpretations" of other even more abstract/intangible things such as moods, emotions, and even random thoughts and ideas.

Recently hung out at the Tribeca Field in Sucat just to watch some acquintances play football.  These guys love the game enough to come as early as 8 am - during their holiday break - when most of their buds are still in slumberland.
