In "tribute" to the now UAAP Defending Champs - I am featuring this blog post from June 3 of 2013. I simply access it "reconfigure" the date to the present - and presto, the blog automatically moves/reinserts the post to the present date [or whatever date I "reconfigure"] on the post.
In the present context, wherein the NU lady Bulldogs are now defending their Shakey's V-League Crown, and the Lady Eagles are on a mission to dethrone them - {and the Lady Spikers Dynasty has ended} Looking back at this very short feat does remind one of the long, tearful, frustratingly painful journey the Ateneo Lady Eagles took to eventually capture UAAP Gold - last March 15.
It IS true, no doubt, that "Sometimes you have to lose in order to win" .....

The Ties [and tears] that Bind
Fact is, a micro second after the Lady Bulldogs scored "Championship Point" I rushed to them, took a few quick snaps - I'd say I gave it around 30 fleeting seconds or so - then rushed to my beloved Lady Eagles where the more compelling drama was unfolding . . .
For several months [over two UAAP Seasons ?] [due to TWO ACL injuries!!] - I really can't remember anymore [ang tagal kasi!] Amy Ahomiro [left] patiently waited for her chance to get quality minutes on the court. Finally, during this V-League Conf - the Kiwi finally got the chance - and during Game #1 of the Finals even earned the Best-Player-of-the-Game Award - What a way to come back Amy !!
Yet , even after that heartbreaking loss in Game #3 Amy was all smiles - and just - I guess - sucking it up . . . . in her own way.
These things happen so fast - sometimes one can get momentarily dazed -
even for a second or two - Caught Denden Lazaro in such a moment . . .
Amidst the swirl of tears there were actually lots and lots of smiles. Eventually, the girls' tears gave way to giggles and sober smiles and a certain "calm". I sensed a certain dignity and pride . . . "somehow emanating" from within their bruised egos - [hope I got that right] . . .
Yes, these "fine young ladies" had given it all they had - and then some - and even if it wasn't enough to bring them the gold - there really wasn't anything to be ashamed off . . .
With Tears of Joy or with Tears of Sadness ---
Embrace those priceless [ever so defining] moments . . .
Sports [life] never gives guarantees that even if you try your best, give it all you've got, go the extra mile [and miles, even] that you'll get what you aspire for. Even with relationships [platonic or romantic], with the noblest of intentions you end up hurting the very same people you claim to care for - We are all simply human and flawed - And if we can accept that, then we can be more resilient if need be - and not take ourselves too seriously.
If you fail Big Time - fall flat on your face [or butt], get hurt/rejected -
It will hurt Big Time - But it's only because you Dared Big Time.
You gotta roll with the punches - in order to Move On and Fight another day - and sometimes you have to Lose First in order to Eventually Win ...
The trick is -
