JPEGs for Breakfast - Part 1

JP Voltes  vs  DLSU tune-up match
6 am at Rizal - July 11
{ a Taglish post }

Si Rigo, si Inigo, si Mikko, at si Niko
.....  kasama na rin si Jose at Jed

A Gutsy {Great} pass by Jose !

Perfect Timing by Joseph ! --- Swak sa goal !

Tang Ina !  - kung kailan pa sa pinaka-importanteng sandali - Siyet !
na  "out-of focus" pa !   Rigo equalizes in the 1st half -> 1 All ! - Yeah !
{Voltes, tho, eventually wins this one [2-1]}

GO RiGO !

Eat my Turf !!

Five sequential images follow below :

I've been photographing Mikko Mabanag since {2008}, I have been photographing Nace Gonzales since 1994 {Of course, since he was a 1-day old !} - But, football wise - I had been photographing my nephew since his First Ever {Literally} football lesson {2000}.

Now, Mikko's a pro, Nace's the incoming Captain of the Green Archers for UAAP Season 79' {sadly, his last playing term for DLSU}   ....

....  .and watching them go at it, for the Nth time - 'twas just a "Dynamic, Animated Affirmation" of their passion for the "beautiful game".

Betcha, The two young men - WILL only get better, through to, the next few years.

{siyempre, ako rin} - I WILL only get better, through to, the next few years -
ha !} You Betcha !

Occasionally, in the sport of basketball and football, one gets the unsolicited "free facial", or "kick to the groin" - {Ooomph !!}  -- almost always
 [Not all the time, tho] accidental/incidental in contact sports.

Here, the third of the Diamante boys, sophomore Jed D., this time,
obliges a  "free head massage"  to his Voltes counterpart. {two images above}
{all part of the game, bro}

Jed D  vs  Mikko M

 I was able to craft a decent quota of "blogworthy" B-t-Scenes imagery
 [my thing] during the halftime break, and after the match.

If I include my better B-t-Scenes JPEGs to this post - it might be overkill, or
"baka maging nakaka-umay tong post na to".

So, I'll cap this post with just two BTS shots, and craft a sep post feat' {to follow this one} which'll have my other BTS photos from this Monday morning's
TU Match.   DO visit it guys.

Ang Init !

Another Drizzly Game Day

July 9 - Rizal Stadium

Stallions FC Scores
5-1 vs Agila FC
{ all images, shot w Manual Focus }

 #6 Nathan Alquiros drills this one in

On a personal note :
I had no available [working] Auto Focus telephoto lens - ergo -
simply had to use a Manual Focus 100-400mm 5.6 tele-zoom {again}
Extremely uncomfortable and frustrating to some degree 4 me - I admit
- BUT -
I just dealt with it and did my best

Funny tho - A part of me has begun to relish the Challenge ,
NOT that I want to be in this situation, mind you - I'm just Gutting it Out

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will see me Gut it Out again, at Rizal
- ha ha ha - YES !

Grasya o Sumpa ?

Blessing   or a   Curse  ?

 photo from the internet

recognize the character ?

freaky?   schizo?   psycho?   insane?   tacky?   weird?
Bohemian?
heart on her sleeve?   vulnerable?    funny?     lovable?   adorable?
all rolled into one ???

this one's {the character above} got all heart tho    .......
 ha ha ha

They say .....
Better Weird, than Boring - Right  ?

Ironically, at times,
it's the insane qualities of a friend, the one that drives others crazy,
that are actually the same qualities
that make that friend "lovable" and so endearing ...
in an inexplicable kind of way
whatever  ...

just expressing a thought,   bro

A Day Apart

-- another spur-of-the-moment post --

Erika  and  Amara

What prompted me to craft this impromptu post ?

Randomly browsing backwards through my flickr site - i noticed two portraits side by side [nice ones at that] - checked the dates that they were taken, and found out that they were taken a day apart.

Both images, tho, had things in common  .......

 December 26, 2014
Erika Padilla

 December 27, 2014
Amara Chan
{eldest of Jeffrei}

...... . Both images were/are

taken at the MoA, during a PBA doubleheader
taken with the same lens
taken below eye level
stolen, on the go
my best images of the said subjects, so far
  {of course, I'd love to outdo them, eventually}

Erika Padilla was just passing by in front of me, busily going to and fro,
the baseline, attending to her PBA courtside correspondent chores. I "hastily timed" my shot {one "nano-second chance" was all i had }.

Fortunately, gotta good one - one single fleeting image that simply outdid ALL my other shots {stolen or composed} of Erika - and I have NOT crafted any EP photo to BETTER this one - ever since.

Amara was having some light moments with her mom {Donna} near the ringside seats {halftime break}.  I simply non-chalantly sat a row level below Amara, and trusted my instincts.  Captured a cheerful moment here - Love it !

I'd like to think that both photos are Really Nice
and that both have a Fine Synergy of Technical AND Artistic Skill

And you know me - Looking to share AND reshare/repost images under one theme/context  ..... [ images worth a second look {hopefully} ] - If ONLY
to Dare me to Do Even Better.

Not much to say about these images .....

....  comes a thought, a mood, a moment ....... a sentiment ...
 .... a sliver of light, reflections, textures and hues .....

Hey !  Wait for  Me !

Karylle

seven - seven - twenty fifteen

Sneaker Pimp

Remember Alli ?, Keli and her "vocal stylings", the feel and the vibe in
"6 Underground", that trip hop piece from the Sneaker Pimps [the 90s]?

Me, i like / appreciatte stuff that "stays with me" - images, tunes, [not to mention - moments, of course], quotes, phrases, names, or just simple descripts or word combos that have a nice "ring" / "catch" to them.

 {The descript "sneaker pimp" has always appealed to me } - ergo, I'm just looking for a rare, appropriate opp to use the descript  .... hence, this blog post .. and the fact that these images are Turning exactly a year old, as i post them

Now, it's no secret that Karylle loves wearing sneakers. Everytime, I'd see her about town, the past few years, she'd always be in sneakers. Of course, I did not know her then - but when I finally got to meet her -> Exactly a year ago, to this very evening {July 7,2015} - She was more than simpatica and graceful to allow me to take her on -the-spots available on the latter part of a photo exhibit - when only the closest of friends of Julian Rodriguez were around, just taking it easy, drizzly late chatting the night away.

FYI, 'twas in Julian's Photo Exhibit, at the Hostel, in Makati City, where I met Mrs. Yuzon [Karylle]. Julian is a common friend.

Just minutes before everybody called it a night [course - I did a Group Shot] -

Julian, mah man, is in the middle, in a black shirt, and khaki slacks

In the last minute, Karylle posed for me [full body shots] - and after reviewing my images the next morning - I had no doubt I would use the words "sneaker pimp", one way or another, in a blog feat on Karylle, tho, in this case, the majority of my shots were actually close-ups.

All in all, that rainy Tuesday, was more fruitful then I had expectations. I was able to show my support to my buddy, Julian - made some new acquiantances, - caught up with some former child portrait subjects of mine, now married} - AND - so unexpectedly, was presented with a one-on-one, on-the-spot opp {available light portrait, no less!} with someone - who I'd wanted to meet, for the longest time.

'Twas somewhere in the casual flow of things that i non-chalantly started taking close-up portraits {Mostly stolen, no-look shots} - as everybody was just so engrossed and so relaxed in casual conversation - and i was practically "invisible" , tho every now and then - I'd casually choreograph Karylle, tweak her head angles, hand positions - to get the best possible composition.

Concentrated on head shots [close-ups] of her and did not bother to take full body shots of the ever-charming and classy sneaker pimp, until she was about to leave already.

.... and  .....
  -    -  bow

- "Magaan sa Loob" -
- So easy on the eyes -

When my subjects are so comfortable with themselves -
Simply Everything Flows
My photography becomes practically effortless, even

What more can I ask for?

The last I saw of Karylle, was actually after Game # 2 of the Best-of-Three UAAP Womens' Volleyball Finals} {MOA Arena, last Apri}l.
