Hidden In Plain Sight

I like Sports Imagery - but

On-the-Spot Available Light Portraiture 

I Adore It

Yes, the images in this post were taken over a year and a half ago inside the Blue Eagle Gym.  I was coming from a meeting [or was it a RIFA football match? - actually I can't remember anymore] inside the Ateneo Campus when I decided to drop by at the gym for a breather [the rain was staring to pour] to find the Lady Eagles Volleyball Team training [and bonding].

The title is "Hidden In Plain Sight " because the girls were aware that I was clicking away- but they were never really bothered.  At that point in time, they were already pretty much at ease w my presence - having been accorded the privelege of taking team photos inside the Arena locker rooms sev X [w the blessing of ADMU Athletics  Director Ricky Palou] the previous summer - [when the Lady Eagles won their First Ever Shakey's V-League Champions] - but more importantly --> were already quite familiar with the quality of my photography [on AND of the court]

Still, there are unwritten rules as to how one might conduct one's self in this kind of photo opp.  One has to be sure to able to get a sense and capture a level of "emotion" without interfering with what's' going on.  It is not that easy, mind you.  One can easily try too hard [yes, it has happened to me on occasion].

 According to a Jan.30 [Fille's B'Day] article in Yahoo, Cainglet has about 37,000 followers on Twitter !! and team mate Gretchen Ho has about 43,000 !!

During my brief conversation with Gretch, [as she is sometimes called] Ho stated that second to Volleyball - she actually likes playing Basketball !

After an arbitrary number of photos, I  quietly slipped out of the gym [actually the team wasn't done yet], walked to the Katipunan ped overpass [sans umbrella] overpass to start my long commute to Sucat.  Got slightly soaked on the long trip - Well, 'twas worth that inconvenience - to able to craft these kind of images.
