Aaauurgghh !!!
Everyone AND everybody WILL always have jumpshot, lay-up, and slamma-jamma shots from a hoops match. I'm fine with that - that's what I try to capture too ->Most of the Time - That Is. What is actually MORE exciting, more unexpected and more challenging for me to capture - are the "broken plays".
By "broken plays" [if I may abuse the term] - I am referring to ->steals [mga sundot], blocks, tap outs, frantic saves, blocks, tenacious battles for possession ->frenzied grapplings, and MAD scrambles for loose balls -specially when everyone sprawls on the floor [love it!!].
Nywayz, Here is a random collection [from Round 1 of the UAAP Season 76 Basketball Tournament] of some "broken plays". Some photos are actually blurred -> OK Lang - there will ALWAYS be off-focus/mistimed images in a photogs FC [I don't mind sharing them at all] - at least one can see the effort on trying to capture those ever so elusive "broken plays".
LA Revilla / Terrence Romeo

Kiefer Ravena / an unidentified UP player
Jericho Cruz / Henry Asilum
Ralf Olivares tries to defend as Ar-Raouf Julkipli [#8] makes his move.
Jeron Teng tries in vain to get back the ball Nico Elorde
has just stolen from him.
Nico controls and scoots for an unmolested two
[La Salle, though, wins this match]
Juami Tiongson / Roi Sumang
Karim Abdul / Celedonio Trollano / Jericho Cruz
Eat My Dust !!
Roi Sumang / Kevin Ferrer
Occasionally, when I'm positioned under the goal, the ball ricochets towards me, as the two following sequences show [below] - - I actually like capturing he ball, photographically, as it goes towards me [just before I duck, deflect it!!
Karim Abdul / Jericho Cruz
Trying to force the issue [hoping for a foul, at least] against a
Tiger Double Team, Jericho Cruz ends up losing control.
Tiger Double Team, Jericho Cruz ends up losing control.
Non - call !!
Charles Mammie / Chris Javier / Jason Perkins
Ed Daquiaog / Kyles Lao
Almond Vosotros / Juami Tiongson
Ralf Olivares / Chris Newsome
Norbert Torres / Chris Javier
Antonio Inigo [#14] trips over Chris Newsome.
Chris Javier / Jason Perkins
Really LIKE the next six images :
Talk about Hustle !!
Kevin Ferrer saves this one as he slides towards the baseline,
[barely a few inches away] and flips the ball to
Tiger Teammate Ed Daquiaog.
Tenacity !!
NU BIG, Emmanuel Mbe OWNS this one, as UST BIG
Karim Aabdul can only give him enough space, lest he foul Mbe.
Joshua Alolino tries to get hold of the ball, as his opponent,
Ralf Olivares, flops down, in this mad scramble.
Akin 'To !!
Frank Golla [#21] / Jericho Cruz [in white] grapple !!
Chris Javier [in white] / LA Revilla [#19] --- AAUURRGGHH !!
Karim Abdul / Emmanuel Mbe, again, go at it !
Anatomy of a
Mad Scramble, Eventual Possession, a Resulting Fastbreak for DLSU
and a missed lay-up by LA Revilla
[9 sequential images follow]
Ganyan ang GUSTO KO !!!
Nagkarambola kayo riyan!! [Lumupasay kayo!! -Magsipaan kayo, magkamutan kayo - Wala akong pake !!] Para lang gumanda lang ang mga kuha ko !!!
The ball goes to Luigi de la Paz,
who throws a lead pass to the sprinting LA Revilla.
but Dan Alberto [#5] defends well enough to distract LA's aim.
[below]
LA Revilla [#19] Misses this lay-up and the Red Warriors regain possession.
Everything will be for naught if one doesn't finish
One simply has to Finish !!
That IS the Name of the game !
PS
There's MORE where these came from -
This'll only be first, in a series of "broken plays" feats.
