Black on Black
&
White on White
It is what it is, a very fair skinned girl wearing a dark blouse against a dark [underexposed] background. Crafty use of available light [open shade],
a trusting bond between the photographer and model - and the result is -
A Canon Asia Honorable Mention Awardee. [albeit, years back]
I've always believed that TRUE art is timeless. Yes, it was years ago when I shot this Black & White Portrait [35mm Kodak ASA 400 Tri-X Film was used] titled "My Friend" - and what a One True Friend she was - A Bond that lasted years - Classic portraits that have endured even longer - and this single HMention Awardee [above] was just one of many.
The three portraits that follow below [2 taken w/Black & White Film and 1 taken w/ Color Negative Film] are from the same shoot as the one above.
[Same friend, of course]
A few years later I used the same lighting technique/set up
in separate portrait shoots of other friends of mine.
in separate portrait shoots of other friends of mine.
And yes, I used 35mm Film in both images below too.
And years later, craftier use of available light - but this time -
It's a White on White approach with
A fair skinned girl wearing a white blouse, against a white background.
