Friday Afternoon at Moro
[Something About Stu]
He's a fresh college grad from The Ateneo de Manila, Stu Balmaceda. Met the dude sometime November of last year. As of late. I've worked with him, on assignment - last June at Subic and yesterday, at the Moro Lorenzo Gym at the Ateneo Campus - and will work with him in the next few weeks. On thing about Stu is it's just fun working with the happy-go-lucky guy, no more, no less. I took several shots of Stu - candid [working], posing w/ PBA star Gary David/, with Justin Chua and Kiefer Ravena, and hangin' with a media colleague of ours, Alexx Esponga - and a few stolen snaps of some of the Blue Eagles.
Yesterday, August 10, Friday, saw me on a project for Gatorade. The Moro Lorenzo Gym was where I, along with Rick O., Marci C., Anna R., Stu B., Alexx E., and 2 videographers worked - from 2 to abot 5 p.m.. Here are a few
photo souviniers from that drizzly afternoon.

I like photo opps like these - where one can have various groupings.
Eman Monfort, and siblings Isa and Larry Fonacior happen to be at one corner of the Moro - so I don't let the moment pass, and take photos of the trio.

Omping Sumalinog
For the Blue Eagles to win a 5-peat,
Omping has to raise his level play even higher.
Eman Monfort, during the Thanksgiving Mass at the JESU last October, 2011, said that team mate Greg Slaughter [they played together when Ateneo won its 4th straight UAAP Basketball Crown last year] was like a "little brother".
[Monfort still skirmishes with the Blue Eagles occasionally -
He is joining the PBA Draft this coming August 19]
By 4:00 pm - the Ateneo Blue Eagles'
Ball Practice begins - Black & his staff take charge.
Eye - Like
Stu Balmaceda / Alexx Esponga
What seems to be a generic snap of Stu & Alexx - is actually more than that.
It was a well crafted [very dramatically backlit and filled-in in front] "fleeting portrait". At this point, I'd even call it one of my best snaps from 2012, so far - for some reason I cannot explain.
Suffice it to say - I adore the photo and love these guys.
The good news is - I'm pretty sure there'll be a lot more projects where I'll be working with Stu and Alexx. Can I make a better photo of Stu & Alexx in the future - that can supercede this one? Yes, but those things aren't planned, they just happen.
One thing's for sure I'll be striving to make a lot of great solo portraits of Alexx in the months to come. It's also cool working with this young, home schooled sports journalist of a girl.
