Just before Game Time   .   .   .

Kristelle Ann Batchelor - Confident that her UST Tigers will dethrone the Defending 5-Peat UAAP Champion Blue Eagles

Now, We all know who wins this one - 

but this post isn't about the numbers game

- Fighting All the Way to the Last Second -

[Unfortunately, this simply isn't UP's year - they lose ALL their 14 matches]

Following a sobering final collective rendition of the UP Alma Mater Song, Bea Fabregas lingers on court for a while, as the Tigers and Maroons exit. After a few minutes or so - the court is pretty muh cleared - I'm loitering near the South basket, snapping a few photos of Katz Salao and Miky Mirabueno - when slowly, but surely, Bea walks over to Katz  [simply not being able hold back] tightly clutches her "courtside kumare" and [Just so happens, there are no other photographers around already] simply lets go - for a minute or two, releasing all that emotion. [Right in front of me]  .   .   .

I take a few photos  .    .    .

  .    .    . These type of scenarios unfold oh so often in the sports setting - in the public eye [at that].  Writers witness is, but they don't write about it.  Photographers, like me, capture it - and as to how each one disseminates it, that's another story.

Yes,  I can be so easily accused of taking advantage of such a situation.  A sub-plot/story [an unabashed display of emotion] unfolding right in front of me just like that - [and I'm the only photog around] Yes, I will, by pure instinct - shoot !

 But I hope no one [specially Bea] takes it the wrong way. -- 

Do you, blog visitor, honestly think that people who view the photos above will "make fun", let alone "think less" of Bea, as a person ?   Of course not   .   .   .   Don't we all --- have our cheerful, and tearful moments, albeit in privates  settings  --- too??  Then, at least. we can relate, and, by some measure --->empathize - at least,  that's how  i  respond to such moments.

About 30 or so minutes later  .   .   .  [& after a brief snack] Get reorganized - then - by some stroke of luck, find myself in the adjacent ABS-CBN production room [where we, writers and photogs NEVER go inside to] politely asking Bea, Katz, Kristelle, Selina -->[c'side reps from the just concluded twinbill] and Mich -->[dropping by] and Billie -->[from last year!] -- for a quick group photo - 

Course, We all knew that Katz, Bea and Selina had just done their last gigs - so that does factor in wanting a c'side reps group shot w/ the three - if not, actually - I wouldn't have bothered at all - 

 Hurried Imperfect Exposure - Slightly Blurred - OK lang

[not even a micro-second to spare]

After the dethronement of her Beloved Blue Eagles, Selina Dagdag, still also having to deal with her emotions - finds time to graciously join an impromptu mini-reunion of sorts as Mich del Carmen {this year's Adamson's c'side rep} and Billie Capistrano {last year's DLSU c'side rep} join UST's Kristelle Ann Batchelor, UE's Katz Salao, and UP's Bea Fabregas for a few seconds - enough time for me to take several hurried {one photo is above}photos - then Selina simply separates and exits the room - and luckily, the rest of the girls allow me to take a few more "Kodak moments"  [all perfectly expoesed] [Sayang ! The one with Selina is slightly overexposed and a wee bit blurred] - I rushed it kasi - 
Anyway  -  gotta thank the girls for being gracious enough.
