Parting Shots
Athletes tend to stay longer in the dug outs specially, after a loss.
Post Match, as usual - I loiter in the media/dugout area {going in and out of the press room} - hoping to greet, at least, a couple of exiting hoopsters [I've got acquainatnaces, in pretty much every UAAP team anyway].
Thing is, the said area is NEVER DEVOID of writers, waiting for impromptu "ambush" One-on-One interviews - so, loitering there [post game] isn't that awkward or uncomfortable
After the UST W over ADMU, I'm able to have a few words with [King Tiger] Karim Abdul ---
--- reminding him again, fondly --- how "lost"[as in still finding his "way" around] he still was when we had our first random conversation about 2 years ago, in the UST dugout --- when I took his full body portrait, as per his request, so that he could send it to his folks back HOME --- & how he's come a long, long way from those struggling days --- now, the Cameroonian has UAAP Silver, PCCL Gold --- and has fighting chance to get, at the least ->UAAP Silver again --- and now Manila IS HOME to him --- he has a newly born ---
Now, my "weird connection/comparison" ->to another UAAP African import -->Pippo Nuonduo [former FEU Tamarraw] [ALSO a good bud of mine] --- Is that ->Pippo had an altercation, rather, a very heated [very public] verbal tussle during a previous UST-FEU match, at the MoA, VS Karim !! - [w/ Coach Pido ending up threatening Nuonduo w/ LEGAL action ! Whoa ! ] Well, the net result of all this is that Nuonduo is now banned from the UAAP [hoops matches only] venues - Well, so much for digressing from my topic . . . Now back to Karim . . .
{ & yes, we'ere scheduling a [3 some] portrait shoot with him [Karim] [Rochelle], and their newly born - aptly christened "KR" [not "Pido"], as I quipped in prev post - haha, soon, very soon }
--- Jeric, Aljon, and Gwyne - even take their photos [see previous post] - Hindi ko natiempohan si Ryan [sayang] . . . later then, get to greet Frank and Juami as they leave --- the 3 Blue Eagles->Buenafe, Golla and Tiongson having just played their last UAAP game [albeit, leaving the League, on a sad note].

who I, luckily, catch - just as he is being interviewed [Ravena just
happens to wear a hooded jacket, that somehow "fits the occasion".]

Do get to shoot a bundle of images of Sandy Arespacochaga, too [the last images I do take that early evening] - but for me, these KR shots do fine enough for now.
These photos are selected from about 60-70 plus photos of Ravena - taken in that 5-10 minute interview .This is 30-45 minutes or so after the match where the Blue Eagles are elimenated [by UST] from the Final Four[for the first time since 1998] Only a handful of press people [still working in the press room ] are left and a few athletes [probably one or two are still inside the Ateneo dugouts, along w Coach Sandy] still around when I shoot these.
Hope Kiefer watches brother Thirdy and the rest of the Blue Eaglets as they battle for a Finals Slot in the Junior Division. Ateneo has the Twice-to-Beat advantage versus FEU. That Juniors match-up is scheduled for 12 noon, this Saturday [MoA], to be followed by the FEU-DLSU Seniors battle for the #2 Spot in the Final Four, that one scheduled for 4 p.m..
