Hotshots and Hotspots

This is the 3rd time I've attended the Annual [summer] Jr.NBA Affair [a culminating event] where a a select few of the country's most promising young hoopsters [and a few coaches too] are chosen to and given the privelege to attend basketball clinics abroad. Only, this time, as compared to the previous years, it is now called "Jr. NBA Jr. WNBA", since young female hopefuls have been integrated into the program.
Anyway, on a Technical / Artistic note - Let me state that this post is titled "Hotshots and Hotspots" because - an unexpected lighting situation [during that final boys' match - from which the judges had to base their final selection of the top 10 boys ] cropped up. The extremely harsh afternoon sun cast "hotspots" on the playing court. [ By definition - in the context of photography - A "hotspot" is a portion/area of a scene/image where the lighting is simply too bright, such that, the said portion "overexposes", so to speak - occasionally [not all the time] - to the detriment of the image ]
During that match, getting a decent / normally lighted {as in "evenly lighted"} action shot was simply impossible. No matter what one did, there were hotspots that simply ruined whatever composed images one had in mind.
No matter, I just simply managed to time my shots - to somehow create images ---albeit with hotspots--- that still managed to capture the action [and the hotspots !!] all together - Hahaha! A little patience, a little persistence rewarded me with these monochromes - that I'm sure will still be appreciated - at least, by whoever these youngsters are
BTW, during the girls' match, the lighting was normal { I came at, literally, the last minute !! of the girls match, actually } so there are no hotspots in the two images below ...
