Remembering Rowling's Words
Started photographing UAAP games early 2009 - First 'twas Football, then Volleyball - then, I eventually I got access to/shoot UAAP Softball, Baseball, Tae-Kwan-do, Ping-Pong - besides the numerous local pro-leagues I got into also - plus some overseas sports events ..
STILL, at present - I got TONS to Learn & Experience ... ... ...
Fortunately - Once in a rare while - I come across an image where I AM in the photo, a "minor element" [at least] in a photo - hahaha !
The March 1 image on top {w me on the bottom} , which I just downloaded from Jia Morado's fb page - just minutes ago !! - actually prompted me to type this post.
How I eventually got access, {Only Philip Sison and I are allowed inside}{Philip has been covering some of the Ateneo UAAP Teams for 10 years thereabouts - na} particularly to the Ateneo Lady Eagles post-game "huddles" in ALL the seven games of Ateneo Lady Volleyball Team's "Dream Run" ---> boils down to Years of Patience, Persistence [even occasional failure] - a decent measure of RESPECT and Consistently Good Work.
Simply stated. - It IS Just That. I'm so Pleased for that.
But more so -- Happy for the Lady Eagles, too, who struggled through years of frustration, heartache, doubt, criticism - to Finally claim their First UAAP Crown - ever - In the MOST Challenging of Circumstances [Almost Impossible] ever in a MOST Dramatic Fashion. {When I started "gradually" shooting the Ateneo Womens' Volleyball Team's UAAP, then V-League matches - The Fab Five ->Cainglet, Ho, Ferrer, Nacachio, and Gervacio - were just rookies !}
Facing an Invincible Green Archer Team {who had a 30-Game Winning Streak entering the Finals } Who Wouldda Thought ?? Who Wouldda thought ?? Who Wouldda Thought ? - More so !!- that the Fab Five had already graduated !
It's Always Nice to Win in the LONG HAUL - Specially, when the Odds seem so, so, so Insurmountable - more ironically, when you are NOT Expected to ! -
--- and to eventually Triumph over Extreme Adversity AND be rewarded graciously and deservingly SO.
Success IS Success - and IT IS only as SWEET as the STRUGGLE to earn it - the Only Way - through YEARS [even of failure, rejection, and profound heartache] of Persistence, Patience and again, -> with a decent measure of Respect.
