"Mamu" Makes the Moves
Blue Eaglets - 85 Red Cubs - 77
Yesterday, May14, at the Arena in San Juan
What I remember about the Blue Eaglets' second win [at the ongoing Filoil Tourney] is that Ateneo pretty much controlled the match from the get-go and kept the Red Cubs at bay, time and again. During the latter part of the 4th Qtr, tho, San Beda came threateningly close [about 3 pts] to overhauling the Ateneo lead - but several gutsy drives by Blue Eaglets' "Mamu" Mamuyac sealed the win for the Boys in Blue and White.
Mamuyak actually never converted a single field goal but he dished out a game total of 6 assists and sank 4/6 free throws, the points and the dish-outs mostly coming in those crucial last few minutes of the game.
Below are four separate timely offensive thrusts by Mamu -
all executed in the latter part of the 4th.

- and this one nets a basket !
Jolo Mendoza, [#11] [RP standout] [2 images above] also had his moves, that netted points for the Eaglets. Jolo had 22 points for that afternoon, followed by the Nieto brothers --> Matt [#7] and Mike [#5] - [who scored 21 and 11 respectively]
Unfortunatetly, I didn't get a decent action shot of Matt - but surely -
I'll make the extra effort to get SEVERAL good ones during the next Blue Eaglets Filoil match.
Migs Ramos [#16] loses control of the ball to Red Cub Mark Decapia [#4] - but before too long Ramos streaks for an unmolested lay-up.
Migs manages 9 points total.
Shaun Ildefonso [#17] misses this one [above left].

as Ed Vasquez [#9] streches to defend
