Alyssa's Ambush

7:30 pm - Arena in  San Juan

..... Straight from Heathrow

.....then to NAIA, 

then to the Arena in San Juan

AS far as I knew, Alyssa Valdez was slated to arrive in Manila,  sometime Tuesday, and probably might visit the Bali-Pure  vs  Iriga  4pm match of the Shakey's V-League Wednesday Doubleheader (earlier). Bali-Pure player Coach Charo Sorinao had prev advised the press that Alyssa was definitely NOT playing on that match - [having to "transition into condition" having being away on vacay in Europe - as, the past few weeks back].

Anyway, moi, as I was quietly doing my tasks, along with  a couple of media guys [writers and photogs] - earlier this evening [in the quiet of the Area Press Room] - as the [2nd match of the Wed Doubleheader] -> UP  vs  Baguio was into its decisive 4th Set  ...

...  Lo and Behold - the Phenom {along with Dani Ravena] suddenly dropped in, at the Arena Press Room !

No, not out of thin air !!, tho - it sure seemed that way.

Everybody was simply caught unawares ! 

NO Fanfare, no text advisory - whatev ! she just simply dropped by !
.... and the Thing, she didn't have to - what for ?
 

Courtesy call, call it what you like, PR - whatever ! 
'Twas so Totally Unexpected !! - and hands , a Welcome Surprise  No Less!!

Alyssa promptly looked for TJ Jurado, a veteran writer .....  quick pleasantries were exchanged - and the automatic Q & A from the and the other writers ensued  ... and in the span of (probably less than 5 minutes, literally)  the Phenom was gone,as quickly as she had appered  !

Upon first sight o "Baldo", I  managed to grab my DSLR, w/o a moments hesitation and simply followed Alyssa [and the small posse of writers] as she started to exit the Arena premises .....

.... hastily positioned myself ["inabangan ko na lang siya"] at the Arena  "rear foyer/driveway area" and promptly snapped these "either-i-get-it-or-i-don't / a-few-fleeting seconds-is-ALL -i-got" candids, as the few writers were hurriedly trying to have their final querries answered - Lest Alyssa leave at a second's notice !

...and leave she did !!

Tsk, [Somewhere in between those quick minutes - I asked Dani Ravena if I could have a picture of Alyssa and her together - as if ! ha !

 - considering how hasty 'twas going [Alyssa and Dani were hoping to catch the 7pm Gilas match at the Big Dome] - as if ! -- course, Dani gracefully declined .........

Kiefer's sister did mention to me that they just arrived from London, and after waiting for over an hour plus [customs probably], this [the Arena] was their stopover before Araneta



......... but 'twould have been cool, cos Alyssa and Dani looked a lil more fashionable than usual {Alyssa w the leather jacket and all}

Anyway, whatever - what could i say ??
Right place at the right time -  No Huss, No Fuss, No FANS !!! - No Time -ha ha ha  ...
 
Just Glad to have "survived" this one - and have some photo souvs to share, from a rare ambush by Alyssa Valdez, No Less !!
