Backlit - Part 1

By the Dawn's Early Light

Was at the DLSU Zobel turf twice, recently - arriving as early as 5:45 am [hitching w my nephew].

Actually, way back last February 17 - Early light also saw me at the Zobel turf, along with my nephew, and the DLSU Mens' and Womens' Football Teams.

Random Behind-the-Scenes photos are what I'm after on such visits {renewing  my acquiantances fr both teams Do Matter -FYI}- Suffice it to say - my images have to be very, very interesting [at the very least] - Interesting enough for me to fashion a photo essay of sorts - with a theme/context -->Spin to them - to  make them blogworthy ...

So much for talk - Here are a few  ...

I simply love this sequence.
They are very, very simple [timed] shots that have a rythm and feel to them.

Co-Captains Meryll Ledesma [blue kicks] and Inna Palacios [yellow-green jersey] lead the rest of the Lady Archers as they warm up for yet another training session.

[directly behind Meryll is Nicole Andaya [#10] and directly behind Inna is Mikee Atayde]

Coach Hans Smit

 Meryll Ledesma

Inigo "Nace" Gonzales [#10] is the Captain of the Mens' Team.
He just happens to be my nephew.

Can't help but be proud of my nephew

Within the 6-9 a.m. time frame the guys take several breaks

The UAAP Football Season commences on February 7
- [Emperador Stadium]
Both the the Mens' and Womens' Teams of Ateneo and La Salle
battle it out against each other.

Thoughts on Christmas

Each to His Own

- Humility and  Hope -

- and a most Evocative Image ......

No,  no , no - not this one above
ha ha ah - I'm just humoring you guys
It's the one below

I've actually posted the image [below] twice already !!!  in this blog, and only recently, too, in my Instagram page [FYI - I took this image way back December of 2013].

And as much as I've looked to craft a more powerful, evocative image - 10X, even 100X better !!  than this one - the "Sampaguita Vendor" street photo below STILL is the most truthful, accurate expression as to HOW Christmas Hits Me, resonates in my heart [of hearts] - all the way into the very recesses of my soul - if I may say so - ha ha ha ...

Seriously --- It is truly that simple bro.

NOT about gifts, prosperity, coolest gadgets, fancy trips, the most abundant of Noche Buenas, professional stature, having loads of cash  - or anything physically tangible ----- {NOT that i have anything against such ! - ha} -----   by any measure ........

....... and Surely tho - reaffirming bonds with family and true friends MATTERS BIG TIME to me -

but still, on a different level/frequency tho........

... as [hopefully] conveyed by the following  picture-words combination    ......

-----

{  FYI,  To caption my "Sampaguita Vendor" street portrait,
if i may call it that - I borrowed several phrases -------

[several phrases that, admittedly ALWAYS {ALWAYS!} hits me REAL HARD
- seduces my whole emotional psyche - and takes me ta place that   .....  .....
- in a way like no other - I    F______  g  Kid You Not !!]

----- fr the X'Mas carol- "Oh Holy Night"
--> plus a few words that so easily flow [from me] whenever I see this photo}

.....   a thrill of hope
a weary world rejoices
.....   on yonder breaks
a new and glorious morn .....

Fall .....    on your knees

Oh Hear .....   the angel voices  .....

Oh,  Ni - ight    Di - vine

Oh - ho   Night,  when Christ was born

Oh,  Night    Di-vi-i-ine
    Oh,   Night Divine   .....

 -----------

Humility and Hope   ....

hope amidst poverty
 hope against fear
hope despite anger { endless quarrels }
- and heartbreak

hope --- despite promises unkept
committments forgotten

hope despite deep betrayal

hope despite friendships given up on
relationships let go off

despite arrogance and {simply too much}  pride
hope amidst unforgiveness

amidst broken marriages and families
and children abandoned

hope despite fear of rejection
hope despite the lack of courage ---
--- to try again -- after repeated failures

hopes despite shattered dreams .....
hope against the seemingly insurmountable

Hope Springs Eternal .....

 and
 ..... for ALL that is
inherently pure, beautiful, true
and good
inside of us ALL  ......

do have a soulful holiday season and a wonderful new year ahead you guys !

Tamaraws vs Eagles - {now w/ 24 jpegs}

December 17 - FEU Diliman

Tune-Up Match
[ a few favorite uncaptioned snaps here ]
So Glad I Attended

I'm usually sleeping like a log at 6 am - but - yesterday Thursday - I made sure to make it to the 6 am Tune-Up match between the Ateneo Lady Eagles and the UAAP Defending Champion Lady Tamaraws.

They played three 30-minute sets.  All-in-all, FEU netted 6 goals,
while ADMU netted a total of 4.

Sure, getting decent action images IS always the major concern for me - But I simply cannot leave any sports event [more so, when a team I openly support, a team where I've got a number acquiantances in] without at least a few decent, stolen, behind-the-scenes shots of that said team [in the latter portion].

Anyways .....

Truth is, I bumped into Aina [#10] and Kitkat [#24]  on the evening of the 16th, at Greenbelt, where at, they informed me about Thursday early morn tune-up thingy.

Had a hard time waking up on time [rushing and all].  Did miss the first few minutes of the tune-up - but hey - I had enough time to gate some decent action shots thereafter - and pahabol B-t-Scenes shots such as these last nine.

I'm simply glad I came.  It was more than refreshing to see these guys again. Coach Bob graciously invited me to the team breakfast - este - brunch] at the Caterdilla residence.

Shoulda taken a few snaps of the team at the brunch - but, well - ok lang kung wala - No Biggy, having no photos souvs there .... the ten b-t-s snaps in this post are fine by me
