Hustle

Never Giving Up

The 3-frame sequence below clearly speaks for itself.  It shows Green Archer Jeron Teng [#21] never giving up on the ball.  DLSU, as a result of this young rookie's gutsy move, regained possesion of the ball.  FEU, though, eventually won this 1st Round UAAP match.

- Reason To Smile -
Juancho Borja / Haya Ibarra / Mariel Alfonso / Carla Ng
Sometimes the simplest, fleeting photos are my most "heartfelt" -
This picture - I simply adore it

I've been acquianted with Haya Ibarra since way back 2009 when I first started shooting UAAP Football. - Witnessed Haya battered, bruised, screaming, in crutches, in tears, through injuries, through the heart ache of losing the UAAP Finals Series, through the euphoria of winning a UAAP Championship - the gamut of emotions athletes experience.

And, Now -  that she's finished her playing years as a Lady Archer Keeper I'll do miss photographing her in action.

Milestone

Ninety Years & One Month

The Number One Girl In My Life
- Mom -

Exactly a month ago. Lydia, my mom turned 90 years old.  I posted an entry about her turning 90 - in my previous blog [brosigonzalesphotography.blogspot.com] - which has since been hacked, by some malicious "black hat" for whatever reason - prompting google/blogger.com to delete the whole blog, which had all my April, 2012 to July, 2012 blog entries.  Tough Luck !!!

Decided to release this repost, since it is also the 27th of the month. albeit August - if only to reshare some portraits of my mom.  Photographing pretty girls is regular fare for me, wether they be up-close and personal shots or stolen moments captured during various sports events I attend  week-in, week-out.

So, wether it be photographing the hottest/cutest chick around in a sports event or photographing my bewrinkled mother - I give them the same love and respect and try to give my artistic best every single frame.

This image was featured in my first ever blog -
www.blog brosigonzales.blogspot.com sometime June of 2011.

[The title of the post is "My Sundae Best"].  Above is a finely crafted on-the-spot-available light portrait, wherein I used the afternoon sun  to softly illuminate my mom.  Iba talaga ang "haplos" ng diffused sunlight pag nadeskartehan ng photographer ng maayos. [I used the glass panel shade to create a soft box effect.]

- 90th Birthday -
Guernica's, Sucat - July 27, 2012

My dad [Oscar] kisses mom [Lydia] as she blows her 90th B-day cake.
My Mom & Dad actually celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary last May 11.
Will mom be around on 2013 for me to take images from her 91st B-Day ??
Who knows ??

[FYI - I don't post images of my "personal social activities". This is primarily a sports/portrait blog. My Mom's milestone would be the only exception to the rule]

Yalin World 10-Ball

Pool Portraits

I attended the Press Brief of the Yalin World 10-Ball Women's Championships last Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Crown Plaza and made my first acquaintances in the world of pool.  Come Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I shot my my first ever pool photographs.  Did some action photos, of course,  but the  slow pace of pool simply offered too many opps for me to take "sportraits", for lack of a better term.  Just had a nice time shooting the world class lady pool players.
Here are some [randomly arranged] favorites of mine.

Jasmin Ouschan [Austria]
Jasmin is a crowd favorite.  She competed in Manila last year.

Jasmin breaks !

Mirjana Grusijic [Venezuela]

Mirjana concentrates.

Kelley Fisher [The Defending Champ] awaits her turn.

 Kelley Fisher takes aim.

Bob Guerrero & BBoy Enriquez do their part.

Anthony Suntay with Kelley Fisher

 Anthony on the sidelines

Anthony with Pan Xiao Ting

 Future Champion ??
This is the 13-year old who qualified for the tourney.
She is a 5th Grader who hails from Zamboanga.

Cheska Centeno, gets her first taste of the
World 10-Ball Competition at such a tender age.

She probably can't even believe it - Huh ?

 Russian pool player
[forgot her name]

The World Champion vs the 13 yr old Rookie.

During "Win-or-Go-Home" Thursday, Cheska finally gets to match her skills
vs former former World Champion Rubilen Amit.
I manage to illicit a few giggles in this post match snap.

FYI, My absolute favorite is - - -

 Pan Xiao Ting [China]

- I Pine For You, Pan  -
I'm just so terribly infatuated with this Lady.
Pan, with your cherry red lips and deep eyes of blue  Yeah, Right -
[brought about by the refection of blue pool table felt].

Pan, with her trademark crinkle above her right eyebrows, takes aim.

My best action image of Pan Xiao Ting.

Two more Oriental Beauties grace this post [below].

Jasmin Ouschan whoops it up after eliminating an opponent during
"Win or Go Home" Thursday.
Ouschan is, too, knocked out of the race, later on the same day.

Korean Cuties ?   or

K  Pop ?
Call it what you like.
Yes, those Chinese and Korean ladies, have an appeal,
all their own -  Have to See it To Believe It -
Pero - sa Pinay pa rin ako.

[Thing is, I missed the final day of the competition
due to a previously arranged appointment at the Ateneo]
