ONE FC Official Press Release

4 Filipinos, 1 Fil-Am Battle Foreign Foes in
ONE FC: Rise of Heroes on May 2

Filipino mixed martial arts (MMA) fans will have something to cheer on when four Filipinos and one Fil-Am battle it out for cage honors at ONE Fighting Championship: Rise of Heroes at the Mall of Asia (MoA) Arena on May 2 starting at 7pm.

These Filipinos and one Fil-Am will figure in five of the 10 explosive fight cards to be beamed around the world to more than 500 million viewers by partner channels of ONE FC, considered the biggest organization in Asia.  Adding to the excitement are the 15 foreigners who are coming to see action in the same cage with theFilipinos. The foreigners are led by the Brazilian bantanweight champion Bibiano Fernanades, who will be staking his tiyle against Japanese Masakatsu Ueda.

The Filipino fighters will be bannered by Team Lakay's Eduard Folayang, who is expected to have tough fight for lightweight honors against knockout artist Kotetsu Boku in the co-main event.   Both fighters come from a win,  Boku registered a first round knockout win over Arnaud Lepont at ONE FC 14 in March, while Folayang took a decision from Dutch-Indonesian Vincent Latoel at ONE FC 13 in December at the MoA Arena.

Another Team Lakay fighter, Rey Docyogen, is looking forward to snatching his first ONE FC win in the flyweight decision after being without a fight in 11 months.

A former pinweight champion of the URCC, he suffered two consecutive defeats at ONE FC, the first one at ONE FC 7 against Shinichi Kojima and the second one at ONE FC 9 in a split decision to Yasuhiro Urushitani.  This time, he will be facing Guam-based Joshua Alvarez, whon has an impressive record of 12 wins, nine of which were submissions.

Another Filipino, Eugene Toquero, will be facing undefeated Malaysian-American Gianni Subba.  Although Toquero has tasted his first loss at the ONE FC event last December against compratriot Geje Estaquio, his experience in the cage is expected to make the difference against Subba, who has only three MMA fights thus far.

Jujeath Nagaowa, the first Filipina fighting under ONE FC, will be squaring off with indian seven-time kickboxing champion Jeet Toshi, who is also considered India's pioneer for female MMA.  Nagaowa has cut her teeth in Asian boxing before making the switch to MMA, being a former WBC Asia Atomweight champion.

 Ana Julaton

MMA fans, Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike, are anticipating the first appearance in the octagon cage of female boxing champion Ana Julaton after she decided to make the switch,  She will test her newly acquired MMA skills against champion kick boxer Aya Saeid Saber of Egypt.

ONE FC chief executive Victor Cui described the Julaton-Saber fight as "explosive" as both love to engage.  "Filipinos and MMA fans around the world
will surely like this match between two explosive fighters on May 2", he said.

The main event on May 2 is between Brazilian Bibiano Fernandes and Japanese Masakatsu Ueda.  Fernandes has won seven straight fights, including three of his fights for ONE FC by unanimous decision. He hasn't lost a fight in more than three years.

Ueda, a former Shooto featherweight champion, has won three straight fights  with ONE FC, including one against Kevin Belingon at ONE FC 9, and has defeated some MMA legends.

The other exciting bouts are between top Australian featherweight prospect Bob Lisita and Japanese featherweight champion Yusuke Kawanago in the bantamweight division; Japanese Tatsuya Mizuno and Brazilian Leandro Ataidas in the middleweight division; English James McSweeney and Australian Chris Lokteff in the heavyweight division, and Brmese Aung La Sang and Egyptian Mahmoud Salama in the middleweight division. ###

Lions vs Knights / Archers vs Warriors

Bastos !!!
Whatta Game !
[mixed random images from the  SBC-CSJL & DLSU-UE matches]

Tama lang yong titolo 'nato - Bastos !!! - Bakit ?

Basta nagpupukpukan ang mga koponan na parang nakataya ang mga buhay ng mga atleta sa laro - lalabas at lalabas ang galing nila [ Yup - as in the Beda-Letran encounter, the game simply brought out the best from the athletes - as individuals, and as team players - the fans couldn't have asked for anything more ]  [a 3rd Overtime woulda been insane!]

'Tong tres na 'to ni [#16] Racal - Pasok !

Kevin Racal

HUSTLE !!!!

Pag dating sa "end-game" [regulation or overtime] -
Di mawawalan ng banat ang Numero Siete ng Beda !!.
Ibang klase talaga si Amer Bacer !

Battered, Bruised and Fouled  ---
--- Jamil Gabawan [#15] simply shakes it of

I like this simple photo -
simply because it shows a True Warrior in this Knight

Scoring by Quarters      1          2         3        4        OT#1    OT#2     = Final
San Beda                24       15       13       26       13          8                  99              Letran                    20        28       14      16        13          5                 96

FYI - DLS beat UE    69-62

Maan Wong [maroon]  and Angel Arellado [#9] [yellow]
battle for posession

But it's clearly the skills, smarts, speed, hustle and leadership of
spitfire Bea Daez [#7] which spells the the big difference for UP

36 minutes on court - Daez totals 25 markers
- from three treys, six 2-pt.-field goals, and four charities

Trisha Pesquerra [#19]      Jb Bautista [#9]

Erica Delmoro [#9]

Lady Tam Lorraine Ventura [#18] drives as

On the huddle -  Marika Esplana and Jb Bautista

Jb Bautista [left photo] w/ a medium J from the right
Janina Tatel [right photo] - in 11 minutes, shoots 2/2 from the field

I clearly remember a sequence where [#5] Marika Esplana steals the ball from [#12] Jac Tanaman and gets fouled [in frustration] by Tanaman !  Talk about Tenacious D !

The Need for Speed

The Lady Tams' field goal clip ->16/76 =24%
The Lady Maroons' field goal clip ->19/52 =37%
UP outrebounds FEU  54 to 39
