 The Compelling

Yesterday, during the UAAP Women's Football Doubleheader, Le Salle swept the 1st Round of the Elims w/ a convincing {2-0} W over UP, to finish Round 1 of the Elims with a 4-0  W-L  slate, while struggling Ateneo absorbed it's third loss [ losing to FEU {2-1} ] after four matches, to finish with a 1-3  W-L  slate.  

 

Cheerful Cannot Even Come Close to This

Simply had to capture the fresh euphoria the Lady Archers felt moments after both DLSU and UP sang their alma mater songs.

I am very happy for the League Leading Ladies from Taft. 

What Can I Say to these collegiallas {and their Coaching Staff} whose chemistry, mental fortitude, spunk, discipline, dedication - [after months of training] - have brought them to the Top o' the Heap - so far - NOT That the other four Teams have been also been working hard the past months - It's just that - Their Aim has been Straight and True, and they simply beat every team.

But hey, There is still Round 2 of the Elims - and as the sayings go

{this UAAP Season 78} as of late ?

In as much I was very happy for the DLSU Lady Booters, after their Round 1 sweep -  I was very sad for Coach Bob Manlulo and the Lady Booters from Loyola Heights.

After that dramatic comeback [2-1] W over UST - the Lady Eagles simply "lost flight" and lost to UP [1-0] [last week], then to FEU [last night] [2-1].

I caught the latter portion of the Ateneo post match huddle - lingered closely and discreetly managed a number of "up-close-and-personal" tight shots of some of the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles' season, being literally on the line [they are now in 4th [in a field of five] - 'Twas no surprise that Coach Bob Manlulo and Assistant Coach Gely Tiu had only the harshest of words to utter.

Yes, some of the girls were in tears.

Fact IS, bro - When it comes to "Cheerful" - it IS relatively easy to get good photographs - cos "Everybody IS Happy".  

But when it comes to ""Compelling" or "Extremely Heavy {private} Moments",  when athletes are "emotionally strained to their breaking point "-  I AM always treading on Thin Ice every time I attempt to "photojournalize" - more so during a private Team Huddle.

{ I am just fortunate/lucky that Coach Bob Manlulo and the AWFT has accorded me a measure of trust / leeway, when it comes to private team huddles [specially the more sensitive ones] - I've tried to be tactful, discreet when it comes to such scenarios - and more importantly, that i do produce "tasteful" images, that the Lady Eagles themselves readily appreciatte - as Objectively Photojournalistic  and at the same time - Artistic too. }

There IS definitely MORE, where these came from, but for now - if only to entice more visits to this blog - and also simply because I've got a lot of things to do {besides catch up on my sleep}
