Team Players

Recently, I met up [at a resto in Salcedo Village] with 13 guys - for a Working Lunch to discuss pre-prods of upcoming projects.  Long time partners in crime [have worked with these guys for some time now]  [Mind Share]->Marcia Cruz, Anna Romero, [young turks]->Stu Balmaceda, and Yu Murayama were all present - along with [Stellar Atelier]->Arn Reodique, Ago Coronado, Karlo Rono, Peejay Lim, [DDB]->Jackie and Gomer, newcomer Rey, plus Palos [he just graduated from Ateneo last March], and his assistants Clint and Joshua.

Marcia and Anna
[our gracious hosts]

Truth be told - in the few years that I've worked alongside Marcia and Anna  -
It hasn't been smooth sailing along the way [given that I've had my share of  "professional mistakes"].  But I've since managed to learn/adjust/adapt/amend and move on.

Parting Shots
[Unfortunately, Palos, Clint and Joshua had left by then.]

We all have to be Team Players in the Game of Life to truly succeed - wether in our personal lives/relationships or in our professions.   One can never really make it alone.  We need to have faith in each other, depend on each other - Trust in each other,   and hopefully bring out the best in each other.

We are all different  - Yet, at the same time - We are all the Same.
Embrace it - Celebrate it
and from there Find Strength.

 FilOil Flying V Basketball Tournament
May 29, Wednesday
Arena, San Juan

A Won Game Lost
[for Perpetual]
A Lost Game Won
[for Adamson]

  The Adamson Falcons' Fab Four
-> Jericho Cruz [#9] ->Rodney Brondial [#17]
-> Ingrid Sewe [#6] -> Ryan Monteclaro [#7]
combine for 67 of AdU's game total of 79.

Cruz - 27 pts.

Brondial - 15 pts.

Sewe - 15 pts.

Monteclaro - 10 pts

For Perpetual Atlas
Nosa Omorogbe [#8] - 17 pts., Juneric Baloria [#21] - 18 pts.,
  Justine Allano [#15]-14pts., Harold Arbolefa [#9] -11 pts. -
These guys combine for 70 of Atlas' 7.

Randomly sequenced monochromes follow:

Notice the eyes of Ryan Monteclaro
Despite the Tenacious D of the Atlas,
the Adamson point man is unfazed and stays Focused !!
[below] Ryan drives and draws.

Brondial has always been Chairman-of-the-Boards for Adamson
all season long. Here [above & below], he gets an offensive rebound
and does a putback -  ->point blank.

The game goes down the wire.  With less than a minute, Perpetual seems to be on the way to fashioning an upset but Everyone AND Everyone knows that anything could still happen  - and HAPPEN it DOES !! -> The outcome is decided [literally] in the last few seconds of the game !!

Tense moments in the last few timeouts  .  .  .
Brondial, Cruz, Monteclaro listen and stay focused.

A three-frame sequence below shows a Jericho Cruz drive
that is challenged by Perpetual's Nosa Omorogbe

How one starts matters but how one finishes counts the most.

Final
Adamson - 79     Perpetual - 78

After the Adamson-Perpetual match I take HD Vids of a particular UP player [He is a Gatorade Brand Ambassador] during the UP-JRU game. The Maroons win this one [75-63], securing their first win in the tournament. Joseph Marata, Raul Soyud, and Julius Wong score 17, 17, and 16 points respectively for the Fighting Maroons while Paolo Pontejos and Ervin Grospe manage 11 and 10 markers respectively for the Heavy Bombers.  I manage only handful of still images from that last game of the day.

 Paolo Pontejos lays it in.

Pirates Steal One from the Stags

Leading scorers for Lyceum ->Mark Francisco [#10] and Wilson Baltazar [#10]   {along with big man Andrei Mendoza [#26]} triple team San Sebastian's leading scorer ->Jaymark "CJ" Reyes [#7]

CJ  Perez [#7]  takes it to the hole !
Jaymark contributes 14 points and 18 big boards to the SSC cause.

Jon Rebollos [#6] sees daylight and drives for an easy pair.
Jon totals 14 points.

Jovit de la Cruz [#4] streches from under.
Jovit totals 10 points.

Mark Tano [#19] releases. He totals 4 points in 16 minutes.

Golden Stag Bobby Balucang [#9] leaps over
Pirate Andrea Mendoza [#26] , as he drives for two.

It's definitely not one of his better games -
Leo de Vera [#21] manages 8 markers in 18 minutes on court.
[two JPEGs follow]

Guisseppe Vergara [#9], from San Sebastian,
is off-balance on this attempt and misses.

Jovit de la Cruz is all prayers during a 4th Qtr breather.

 Pirate Jerimiah Taladua [#22]
eludes three defenders on his way to scoring his lone field goal.

Final
Lyceum - 67     San Sebastian - 66

San Sebastian Head Coach Topec Robinson

As the Golden Stags trudge to the lockers, after having just lost their last FilOil match [by one measly point], I catch Coach Robinson uneasily pacing back and forth in one corner - obviously disappointed over the loss.  [The Lyceum - San Sebastian match is a no-bearing game, both teams having officially been out of contention, as of last week].  The image above is a stolen, backlighted photo.
