Metaphorically Speaking
Without a doubt, Sports will always be a great metaphor for life. In this competitive arena -Trying your best - Giving it ALL you've got - does not guarantee victory all the time. And things aren't any different, when it comes to relationships [platonic /romantic - whatever] - even when you try your darnest best, with the noblest of intentions - at times, things still don't work out the way it should, and you end up getting hurt and/or hurting somebody else [albeit unintentionally].
Sometimes even, you will feel so cheated [inexplicably] by fate itself. Life seems so unfair at times. But truth be told - there will always be pain and heart ache along any path wildly worth venturing into. There is no escaping that.
Ironically - these painful experiences are the ONLY things that can truly test our resiliency, mold our character and truly make us stronger - as in that oft said adage - No pain, No gain - True in Sport, True in Life.

And in the sports setting - I've seen it all too often - [quite compelling to capture indeed - not that I have a morbid fascination seeing athletes feel their psyches and egos being crushed] - usually after a heartbreaking loss - [more so when losing championships] - Athletes with their heads bowed down, hands covering their faces in disappointment, 'manly' tears pouring out . . . being so inconsolable . . .It does happen every now and then - [and not only in the sports arena - as i've suggested] . . .
That's just the way it is. Well - Bottom Line is - I just wanted to share a few random images from my sports files which more often than not, humble me and remind me - that pain does have a purpose in our lives and if we are strong enough to embrace it - it will cease to be meaningless and instead become very meaningful -
- Yeah, Right - As if it's so easy to do -
