NU vs UE Knockout Game - Sept.20

 September 20 - SMART Araneta
Broken Plays, Broken Hearts -
 {and a few Black & Whites}

Wether my images are aptly described in my title by the right words or not ----  Broken Plays,  Mad Scrambles,  Hustle Plays, Battles for the Rebound, what have you -- - I  just like having the  word "[plays" and "hearts" both being described as 'broken" - IF ONLY to have a catchy title - Whatever !!
 As long as I get enough sense of the ferocity and tenacity {both the Warriors and the Bulldogs displayed} of that Knockout Match through to my blog visitors .......
Not to Mention the Intensity of the Heartache experienced by the Red warriors - and the Relief and High HIGHs of the triumphant Bulldogs -
....... I can  be flexible w/ my title ..

BUT, Enuff o' that - here my few random faves from that NU-UE Thrilla.

The Warriors surge to a 9-0 lead - But, after Gelo Alolino hits an open three [photo below], the Bulldogs go on to score 8 more UNANSWERED
points for an 11-9 NU lead - I knew this was gonna be another Down the Wire Thrillla .....

This Chris Javier free throw does tie the match but [all-in-all] Sumang, Mammie and Javier miss 3 free throws each [9 combined] - {The Bulldogs miss 7 charities}

The Red Warriors throw in with 12.4 ticks left ....

HERO or ZERO ?

I barely capture Pedrito Galanza's open corner three, that could have won the match for UE, and bought them the LAST ticket to the Final Four    ...

Of all times for Galanza to have a bad shooting day, from rainbow territory, At That !!! - It had to be on that Knockout Match vs NU  !
Pedrito shoots 1/8 from 3-pt. terr.

Sometimes, the fate of a team is determined in the last few minutes of a match OR on the last second of a match - or so, it seems ... but one should never lay the blame a team's loss {more so, in a Win or Go Home situation} on any single individual, or play ...

The Red Warriors' missing 10 charities - ultimately cost them the Season - [If they converted, even just HALF of their charities] - 'Twoulda been NU being knocked out instead of UE  {NU, at least,  shot 61.11% from the charity lane}

The Unsaid

 Aroga and Betayene try to comfort a crying,
 heart broken Mustafa Arafat.

Coach Eric's eldest, Anton and NU Big, Frank Aroga
 accompany Arafat on the way to the dugouts

Tricia Robredo does the same with a seemingly inconsolable Yvette Din.

... and few random light-hearted moments here ......
before my next post on the goings-on in the NU locker room
- post game

UE Fans - 4th Quarter

Charles Mammie - Was that his last UAAP match ?

Post game - I had a few words with NU Head Coach Eric Altamirano  ..
[and Yes, I did take another On-the-Spot-Post-NU-Win-Altamirano -Family-Portrait - Ha !} {It'll be on the next post} ... and one of the comments he made [among other things] about the Courageous UE Red Warriors was ....

"They belong in the Final Four"
