In My Phone

Simple but Eloquent - that's why I like these two stolen images - Actually, Tricia's is more whimsical/on-the-fly/very fleeting [was on the MoA aisle, behind the NU huddle], while Katz' picture was more deliberate and well-composed, [was ten or so meters away, elevated at that, sniping w/my telephoto].

Katz Salao
-repost-

UE had just lost a match and the players had just exited the hardcourt - the Warriors' courtside rep, Katz Salao was probably tweeting, and am sure, wasn't in the brightest of moods.  Noticing the row of empty chairs to the left of Katz - I knew right then and there that I had the elements for a well-complemented image of a "not too happy" courtside rep - all told in a single snap.
A good synergy of Technical & Artistic Competence -
My criteria for a good [any good photo, 4 that matter] photo
[albeit NOT screaming 4 attention]
with a subtle, but clear message.

Tricia Robredo

Speaking of nuances in an image - Notice how Tricia's locks are mostly on her left side, allowing more light to caress her right cheek and temple, making that side ever so slightly more lit than her left side - allowing enough light to make her eyelids glitter a bit from her "eye shadow", [notice too, how her eyelashes are emphasized] AND also lighting her mouth area enough to show the redness of her lips and the whiteness of her two front upper teeth - and with her right hand's index finger unconsciously resting on her gums/lower lip -> if only to add a "smidge of sensuality" [kidding!!] or, rather, a suggestion of uncertainty in her thoughts [whilst probing her game notes , and at the same time, listening to the NU Bulldog huddle during the crucial final minutes of a match !!]  -
That IS courtside reporting at its best !!   -- Whatever !!

I've been crafting portraits for so, so many years that adjusting ["reading" and understanding] to the nuances of light indoor, outdoor, what have you
-- is so instinctive to me - and I simply enjoy noticing these nuances, and using them to my advantage - to get the best from any photo opp.
[I still make mistakes, though!]

On ordinary, insignificant, mundane moment [above] [boring picture] ??
- Not so - if one knows how to make creative use of available light.

BTW -  Happy Birthday [again] !! Tricia !!
