Eagles Recover

September 9, Sunday
MOA Arena

Ateneo Takes On Adamson
Eagles Prevail [79 - 72]

The aerial encounter between the Eagles and Falcons
sees JP "Poi" Erram play his last game, at least, for this Season 75.

A few halftime JPEGs of the Blu-Babble - - -

 A few images and stats here - - -

Nico Salva - 24 points

Greg Slaughter - 16 points

Kiefer Ravena - 15 points

Nico Elorde - 10 points

In the rebounding department, Ateneo dominates [38 to Adamson's 25].
The Falcons' 44.6% shooting clip is simply outclassed
by the Eagles' season high 58%.

As the elims draw to a close, we know that the Falcons, Warriors, and Maroons will be playing their last few matches - while the Eagles, Tamaraws, Tigers, Bulldogs, and Archers will probably figure in a playoff match or two - after the Cheerdance competition, AND the Bulldogs-Tamaraws rematch.

Am very sad indeed  that Alex Nuyles' injury has to spoil his last season and greatly weaken the Falcon line-up.  Alex, along with Lester Alvarez where among the first ever UAAP hoopsters I got acquianted with way, way back summer of 2010. {I officially started shooting the UAAP Basketball Tournament only last July of 2010}  Since then, I've seen them, [I eventually got acquianted with  Brondial and Cabrera too - the past 2 years] through thick and thin.

Remember  last Season 74, when Adamson had a twice-to-beat advantage over FEU in the play-offs ?  Everybody AND everybody was expecting an Ateneo-Adamson Finals Match-up.  FEU beat them twice in a row to advance to the Finals.  What a Heartbreaker  for Adamson!!

I remember, clear as day, when I approached Lester Alvarez  [an hour+ post game, as he just exited the locker room - most everyone had gone home, even the fans, by then] as he was quietly walking along the dugout corridors alone- - I softly asked Lester - "Pare, saan kayo kakain [of course, referring to the Falcon Team] - Lester answered - "Wala - uuwi lang ako sa bahay"
I then simply greeted him Happy Birthday, and myself went home.

What I'm really saying is - I love those guys, the Falcons, [next to the Blue Eagles, course] .  I only have good things to say about them.  Hope that next year they soar with a vengeance.

A few random stats here, a few game images,
and a huddle shot or two of Leo's Boys.

Eric Camson - 26 points

Jericho Cruz - 14 points

Roider Cabrera -10 points

Again, Adamson's Best - - -

Eric - Is this his last season ?

Jericho - Alex Nuyles' heir apparent
This Falcon will surely soar mightily come next season.

Rodney Brondial
Tough season to swallow for this Fighting Falcon.

Ryan Monteclaro [#7],
albeit, being blocked by Kiefer [notice the kicks].

Janses Rios [#11] [right] fakes out Ryan Buenafe and converts !

[Ryan's on the way down as Janses finally makes his move -
notice Buenafe's jersey]

I don't have a huddle image of Roider.
One thing though - I'm 100% sure he'll play next year.

- - - John Brondial and Ryan Monteclaro.
[both guys, too, will be around come season 76]

Big Bad News for Black

Poi Errams bad fall sustains him an ACL.
Eram's operation is scheduled for this Friday, Sept. 14.

Now, Frank Golla and the rest of Black's Boys in Blue simply have to step up.
A Five-Peat is at stake.
